Could a representative from the following units to call/text/email Greg Dow so he can share who is not trained for the position they are registered for.

99% of what is lacking is found online, 30 minutes.  OR  Greg can come to your unit and train everyone for everything (4-5 hours).

University of Scouting (Capitol Area Council)

The Capitol Area Council (Austin) will be hosting their University of Scouting January 21, 2017 on the campus of Austin Community College Eastview Campus

Who:     All registered Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity and Venturing Leaders 
What:    Supplemental Scouting training at all levels, led by the most creative and experienced Scouters from all over Austin
Where:  ACC Eastview Campus, 3401 Webberville Rd, Austin, TX 78702

Why:     Every Scout Deserves an Educated Leader!
When:   Saturday January 21, 2017, 8am – 4pm

Come for the morning or all day – Over 100 classes in 5 different "colleges" – Dozens of new classes this year – Sign up for anything that interests you, from Weird Science to Dutch Oven Cooking to Skits & Songs, to…

There are some big changes cooking for UoS in 2017! This year we move to a new home at ACC's fabulous Eastview Campus, a beautiful small campus in central Austin. It features modern classrooms, lots of close-in parking, and a huge auditorium. We are also proud to offer UoS with a new low fee of just $10! Finally, we're not ready to announce details yet, but UoS will also offer a completely new and different approach to lunch. Come check out the changes and see what is exciting and new at UoS 2017!

University of Scouting 2017; Circle 10 Council

The Circle 10 Council (Dallas), will be hosting their University of Scouting January 21, 2017 on the campus of Southern Methodist University (SMU).

What is the University of Scouting?
The University of Scouting is an adult leader's learning adventure! It is an action-packed, fun-filled single day of supplemental training where you choose the sessions you wish to take. Sessions are led by experienced volunteers and professionals who will help you enhance your ability to deliver a fun and exciting program to the Scouts.
The University of Scouting offers a wide range of unique adult leader training courses from the:
  • College of Cub Scouting: Cub Scout leaders can pick up tips, hints, and fun suggestions which will help their dens, the pack, and most importantly their own Scouts. Explore new cooking ideas, learn to tie knots, or even have some magical experiences during your meetings.
  • College of Boy Scouting: Boy Scout and Varsity Scout leaders can learn about any of BSA's high-adventure bases (including The Summit) or receive some pointers on "Meaningful Scoutmaster Conferences"  or a learn more from a variety of topics. *Senior Patrol Leaders may attend the SPL Academy with Scoutmaster approval.
  • College of Venturing: Venturing advisors can spend the day on Venturing-specific topics. *Venturing youth may participate in the Venturing Academy!
  • College of Commissioner Science: Commissioners have a slate of offerings to help earn a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate of Commissioner Science.
  • College of General Studies: Leaders and parents can take other general studies topics which span a variety of Scouting Programs.

The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Trainers provide engaging, interactive hands-on educational workshops designed to teach people about reducing our environmental impacts when recreating in the outdoors, as well as sharing Leave No Trace in our communities. By practicing Leave No Trace, we can preserve and protect our natural world and the places where we play.
  • A sampling of what you will learn from the Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Trainers:

    -Tips & tricks to minimize your impacts when you’re in the great outdoors. 

    -The best methods to interact with wildlife responsibly. 

    -Age-appropriate interactive games to learn the Leave No Trace principles. 

    -Develop a sense of environmental stewardship in your children. 

    -Practicing Leave No Trace when camping, biking, fishing, playing in your local park and more. 

    -Quick tips to use and share Leave No Trace at home, at work and in your community.

You asked, we responded.  EDGE Training now availible for Leon Valley.

Where: Trinity Baptist Church,  403 East FM 2410, Harker Heights
When: OCTOBER 8 - 8:30AM (0830 for you military types)
Cost: NOTHING (no nameplates) however; donations are welcome to help defer the cost of lunch.

*** Be Prepared *** Bring a short presentation using the EDGE method to share with the group.

Who NEEDS this training?  Anyone staffing a Wood Badge or NYLT Course.  Also known to help Commissioners, Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters, Cubmasters, Den Leaders, Pack Trainers, Merit Badge Councilors.

ATTENTION! ATTENTION! ATTENTION! Camp Tahuaya is requesting Volunteers for Saturday October 8, 2016 Work Day. Camp Tahuaya has a list of projects that need to be completed. Project scheduled for our October work day is the Stem/ Railroad warehouse.  Come on out and join us to help complete this project.
