The district committee, in partner ship with Devin Morgan (Leon Valley District Executive) is working to execute a mass recruitment event before the Thanksgiving Holiday. All interested units should contact Devin Morgan and/or Chris Collins (Assistant District Commissioner for Killeen) to coordinate representation for all.
The current plan is to distribute flyers at all elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools that units in attendance are assigned to. To make this process smoother, we could use volunteers to deliver flyers to the schools. The event is currently planned for November 14, 2020 4pm-6pm (1600-1800) at Lion’s Club Park.

Eagle Board of Review Information
Our average for 2020 has been two Eagle boards per month, bringing us to an expected total of 24 prospective Eagle Scouts for the year.
There has been some misinformation circulating about automatic extensions due to the COVID pandemic. Our district advancement committee would like to ensure that everyone is aware that these extensions are reviewed individually and awarded where deemed necessary by our council advancement committee.
All Eagle Board of Review meetings will need to be held virtually until further notice.
There will be an annual ‘Life-to-Eagle’ presentation at the November Roundtable. Please contact Devin Morgan or Chris Collins for the zoom meeting information. Please share with any scouts interested in learning about the process.
Merit Badge Counselor Information
All adults wishing to be registered as a Merit Badge Counselor (non-paid position) should complete a BSA Adult application, a Merit Badge Counselor application Youth Protection Training, and provide both applications, all supporting documentation (certifications and/or licenses) and YPT completion certificate to Clair and/or Karlene Stringham. Once your application has been processed, you will be added to an Excel spreadsheet that is sent out to the district advancement committees.
For you to show up in Scoutbook searches, you must add a position to your Scoutbook account as Merit Badge Counselor and add all merit badges you are approved to counsel for. If you are willing to counsel outside your unit, please check the corresponding boxes.
We made the move to Office 365 over the Summer of 2020. At this time, we would like to openly offer access to any active volunteers in the district.
If your Charter Organization is a nonprofit with 501©3 status, they can also get their own Office 365 licenses that can be personalized for your unit(s).
For more information regarding either scenario, please contact Chris Collins.
The Leon Valley District Website has been re-vamped. We need everyone’s help with ensuring that the information on the website is correct. At your convenience, please review the web pages and send any updates to Chris Collins and Greg Todd.
